The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's lacrosse team fell 25-4 in their OUA quarter-final match versus the top seed and host Trent Excalibur on Friday (Oct. 16) night in Peterborough.
After battling to a first-round victory earlier in the day, the Blues were in tough facing off against the No. 1 seed Excalibur. Spurred on by the home crowd, Trent were able to tally 10 unanswered goals to build a lead that U of T could not rebound from.
Adding to her five goals from the Blues victory over the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks to start the championship, fifth-year attack Rheanna Swanson tallied all four goals for the Blues in the evening contest. Her nine goals currently lead the tournament.
Following the loss, Toronto will now challenge the McMaster Marauders on Saturday (Oct. 17) morning in a consolation semifinal. Action will begin at Justin Chiu Stadium at 11:15 a.m, with
live stats available. The winner will then advance to a fifth-place consolation final on Sunday (Oct. 18).
