BLUES NOTCH FIRST WIN OF THE 2026 SEASON ON HOME TURF

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's lacrosse team wrapped up the 2026 regular season by hosting the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks and Queen's Gaels at Varsity Stadium on Saturday (Oct. 4).

Toronto earned their first win of the 2026 season, besting the Ridgebacks 14-8 and falling in a hard-fought 12-7 contest to the Gaels. The Blues showed high intensity and teamwork in their first games on home turf of 2026 and saw a complete team effort lead them to victory and a close result versus an OUA powerhouse. 

Fifith-year attack Rheanna Swanson led the way offensively for U of T, scoring nine total points over the two contests. Versus the Ridgebacks shot notched a four-goal one-assist game and then followed it up his a hat trick and an assist against Queen's. Fourth-year attack Isabella Ward added four-goals and two-assists against Ontario Tech and scored a goal versus Queen's. Third-year midfielder Vanessa Donaldson added six points across the two games.

Overall, seven different Blues registered a point versus the Ridgebacks and four different Blues found their names on the scoresheet against the Gaels. First-year goalie Elizabeth Wu made 31 saves on the day.

U of T now turns their focus to the 2026 OUA Championship, running from Oct. 16-18 in Peterborough, hosted by the Trent Excalibur. Seeding and schedules are to be announced.
