The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's lacrosse team split their two games on Saturday (Sept. 6) afternoon in Oshawa, Ont.

The Blues defeated the McGill Martlets 15-4 in their first game and later fell 17-5 to the Trent Excalibur in their second game of the day. Fourth-year attack Rheanna Swanson was a highlight for the Blues finishing the day with eight goals.

U of T were firing on all cylinders in the win over McGill, finishing the first quarter with a 5-0 lead and went into halftime with a 9-1 advantage. In the second half the Blues offence continued their strong play adding another seven goals to their total on their way to victory. Swanson was excellent for the Blues with six goals in the win. First-year midfielder Trinity Meachem scored a hat trick in her Blues debut. Fifth-year attack Pippa Sinyard and first-year midfielder Ashley Klenk both had two goal performances.

In the Blues second game of the day against Trent, the Excalibur got off to a hot start in the game but a late goal from second-year midfielder Vanessa Donaldson got the Blues on the board in the first quarter. Klenk and Swanson capped off a day of strong offensive numbers with two goals apiece against Trent.

First-year midfielder Sophie Cho and second-year midfielder Jasleen Sandhu both scored in the win over McGill as the Blues totaled 20 goals in the first two games of the 2025 season.

Third-year goaltender Elizabeth McDonald started both games in net for the Blues.
