The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's and women's cross country teams both finished in sixth place on Saturday (Sept. 20) at the Vigars & Slater Western Invitational in London, Ont.
Women's Results
The women's 8km race saw U of T finish sixth overall out of 11 teams.
Fifth-year physical therapy student Julia Agostinelli was outstanding for the Blues as the London, Ont., native crossed the finish line in 29:51, beating her time from 2024's Western Invitational by 10 seconds. Agostinelli would finish in fourth place among the 100 competitors in the women's race. Sarah White (31:13), Liana De Medeiros (31:22), Claire Nolet (32:37) and Kaitlyn Koyangi (32:53) rounded out the top five finishers for Toronto, with all five placing within the Top 50.
Men's Results
On the men's side, the Blues finished sixth overall out of 12 teams competing.
Fourth-year law student Nima Ashtari was Toronto's top runner, finishing 18
th in the men's 8km race with a time of 26:05. Â Andrej Prekajski (26:45), Oliver Tagalog (27:21), Brandon Cidade (27:37) and Nathan Bergman (28:40) were contributors to the Blues score, rounding out the top five for U of T.
Both teams are back in action on Saturday (Sept. 27) when they'll travel to Waterloo, Ont., to race in the Don Mills open.
