First-year standout Tamara Jewett earned a sixth-place finish at the fifth annual North America, Central America and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC) cross country championships on Saturday, March 8 in Titusville, Florida.
Jewett was the fourth Canadian runner to cross the finish line in the women’s junior 4km race with a time of 13:28.
The Toronto native was chosen based on her sixth-place finish at the 2008 Canadian cross country championships, Nov. 29, 2008, in Guelph, Ont.
Jewett was named the OUA and CIS cross country rookie of the year for being the first first-year runner to cross the finish line at both events. The arts & science major was named an OUA first team all-star as well as a CIS first team all-Canadian, and became the first Varsity Blue to win the CIS cross country community service award.
Next up for Jewett and the Varsity Blues is a trip to the University of Windsor for the 2008-09 CIS track and field championships, March 12-14.
