Tamara Jewett was the fourth Canadian to cross the finish line at the 37th annual International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) world cross country championships on Saturday, March 28 in Amman, Jordan.
The event marked the first time in the championships’ history that they were held in the Middle East.
A first-year arts and science student, Jewett finished the race in 23:42, helping Canada to a tenth place team finish.
Earlier this month, the Toronto native earned a sixth-place finish at the fifth annual North America, Central America and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC) cross country championships.
Canada’s top runner was Chelsea Graham, who placed 41st with a time of 22:29.
Dibaba Genzebe finished first with a time of 20:14 to lead Ethiopia to a first-place finish overall. Kenya and Japan placed second and third overall, respectively.
