Box Score The No. 8 nationally ranked University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's soccer team rallied back for a 3-3 draw on the road against the TMU Bold on Sunday (Sept. 14) afternoon.
A rally in extra time with goals from fifth-year forward Anne Yeomans and second-year midfield Emilija Lucic erased the Bold's lead as the Blues picked up another point in the standings, remaining unbeaten with a 4-0-1 record.
TMU jumped ahead to an early lead with a goal from forward Taliyah Walker. The goal was the first that U of T conceded all season. TMU's Aalaylah Lully doubled the lead in the late stages of the first half. Despite trailing by two goals, Yeomans gave the Blues a sign of life, finding the back of the net in extra time to cut the lead in half. The Bold regained their two goal lead in extra time, sending Toronto into halftime trailing 3-1.
In the second half U of T continued to push for offence but as the 90
th minute struck and the game went into extra time the scoreboard hadn't changed. In extra time, Yeomans' stellar game continued, picking up the ball in the box and beating the goal keeper to cut the lead.
Off the kickoff, TMU shot lobbed the ball into the Blues zone. Third-year Blues goalkeeper Maria Godoy-Atrash sent the ball back to midfield. As U of T's attack came into the offensive zone the ball ended up on the foot on Lucic. The Maple, Ont., native spun around a Bold defender, sending a shot over the hands of TMU's goalkeeper and into the top corner of the net as a Blues squad that was on the verge of defeat stormed back to force a draw.
