BLUES CLOSE PRESEASON AGAINST MARAUDERS

Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's soccer team closed out preseason play with a 2-0 loss to the McMaster Marauders on Sunday (Aug. 24) afternoon.

Toronto dominated play in the first half, keeping the ball in the McMaster half of the field for the majority of the 45 minutes. The Blues beat the Marauders to open balls and were able to create plays using smart passing. Toronto's strong play resulted in three shots on net, all of which were stopped by McMaster goalkeepers Julia Kutman and Jana Febbraro to keep the game scoreless.

The Blues continued to press as the game progressed, keeping the pressure on the Marauders and getting chances from multiple players, including Samantha Gravina and Ines Delhomelle, who each had two shots on net in the game. Despite the Blues pressure, the first goal of the game went to McMaster at 74', as Mea Martel forced a turnover outside of the Toronto goal area and chipped a shot under the crossbar. Molly Palladino doubled the McMaster lead just four minutes later, giving the Marauders the insurance they needed to secure the victory.

The Blues are back in action on Friday (Aug. 29) night, kicking off the regular in Oshawa, Ont. against the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks. Game time is set for 6 p.m., and the game can be streamed live on oua.tv.
