U OF T FINISH IN TOP 8 AT OUA CHAMPIONSHIP

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's curling team reached the Top 8 at the 2025 OUA Men's Curling Championships, hosted by the University of Guelph at Galt Country Club.

After advancing to the OUA quarter-finals following two days of round-robin matches, the Blues found themselves in for a tough contest going against the No. 2 seeded Carleton Ravens. Toronto were undeterred by the underdog status, making the Ravens work for each rock scored through the first five ends. Carleton were able to squeak out scores of one through the first three ends, but U of T responses with a two score fourth to cut the lead down to 3-2. After a scoreless fifth, the favourite from Ottawa heated up and notched a five point sixth to secure an 8-2 victory and advance to the Final Four.

With the loss, the Blues run at the provincial showcase comes to an end. The crew of Daniel Hocevar, Mathew Prenevost, Quinn Heffron, and Andrew Paulley played spectacularly, while being led by first=year Varsity Blues head coach Susan Baird.

The Blues will look to return to the championships in 2026 with aspirations of finishing beyond Top 8.
