The University of Toronto Varsity Blues curling teams competed at the Guelph Invitational on Saturday, Nov. 8 and Sunday, Nov. 9. The men's team won the invitational while the women's team reached the quarter-final round.
On the men's side, U of T kicked off the invitational with a 7-6 win over the Waterloo Warriors. After falling to Trent and TMU, the Blue and White avenged their losses to both teams with a win over TMU in the quarter-finals. They followed that up with a 9-5 semifinal victory over Trent. In the final, U of T secured a win over the Brock Badgers, capping off their first tournament of the season with a trophy.
For the women's team, the Blues notched three wins on Saturday with a 7-5 win over Brock, a 9-6 win over York and an 8-7 win over Ontario Tech. In the quarter-final, U of T matched up against the host Guelph Gryphons, falling on a tiebreak draw to advance.
Up next, the women's team will head to Peterborough for the Trent Invitational before the Blues will host the U of T Intercollegiate Bonspiel on Saturday, Nov. 29.
