MEN AND WOMEN PODIUM AT TORONTO INVITATIONAL

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues golf teams served as host for the Toronto Invitational on Monday (Oct. 6), welcoming some of the best golfers from across the province to Islington Golf Club.

Enjoying the home invitational, both the U of T women's and men' teams achieved a podium result. With two teams entered on the women's side of the bracket, the Blues finished first and third. Meanwhile, the Toronto men placed second overall in the eight-team field.

Individually, Anna Foley claimed gold in the women's competition posting a tournament best score of 76. She was joined on the podium by Mia Wong who tied for third just two strokes back at 78.

The team of Wong, Alyssa Kerner, Ashley Noh and Cindy Xiao made up U of T Blue who scored the first-place team result with an overall score of 247. U of T White placed third with a team score of 250 and consisted of Mia Sung, Tara O'Connor, Sarah Cumby and Grace Mayer.

For the men, both Jason Yang and Brian Luo were part of a six-way tie for bronze on the individual leaderboard with a mark of 74, finishing just three-strokes back of the winner. Luo was joined by Shao Liu, Sai Kaja, Desmond White and Sandro Di Felice in the team competition, posting a team score of 305 to place second overall.

The Varsity Blues golf teams also extend a special thank you to the Islington Golf Club.

Next up, the U of T golf teams will travel east to compete at the OUA Championships taking place from Oct. 18-19. The women's competition will take place at Watson' Glen Golf Club in Pickering, while the men will tee off at Oshawa Golf & Curling Club in Oshawa.
