*Varsity Blues women's soccer semifinal preview, presented by Lebanese Garden*
The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's soccer team hosts the Western Mustangs in an OUA semifinal matchup this Saturday, October 24 at Varsity Stadium at 12 p.m.
The winner of Saturday's semifinal will not only advance to the OUA gold-medal match, they will also punch their ticket to the 2025 U SPORTS women's soccer championship, Nov. 6-9, hosted by the McMaster Marauders in Hamilton, Ont.
The Blues earned a bye to the second round of the postseason after finishing first in the OUA East standings with a record of 9-2-1 (W-L-T). Toronto knocked off their rival Ottawa Gee-Gees in quarter-final action with a thrilling 1-0 victory.
Toronto and Western have met twice in the post season since 2019. The Blues defeated the Mustangs 2-1 in penalty kicks in the 2019 semifinals, while the Mustangs topped the Blues 1-0 in OUA quarter-final action in 2021.
The Mustangs finished the regular season with a 9-1-3 record in second place in the OUA West division. Western earned their spot in the semifinals following a narrow 2-1 victory over McMaster in quarter-final action last weekend.
