U OF T WOMEN LEAD AFTER OPENING ROUND OF OUA CHAMPIONSHIP

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's golf team lead by one stroke following the opening round of the 2025 OUA Golf Championship, hosted by Ontario Tech at Watson's Glen Golf Club in Pickering.

Beginning the two-day tournament on Saturday (Oct. 18), the Varsity Blues women were able to past a Day 1 team score of 235 to place themselves atop the leaderboard. Right behind in second are the Waterloo Warriors at 236, followed by the Windsor Lancers at 240.

Toronto were able to hold the Day 1 advantage thanks to consistency across all four golfers on the course. Mia Wong led the way with an 18-hole score of 77, placing her in a four-way tie for fifth place. With birdies on the front and back nine, she sits just three strokes back of the individual leader from Laurier. U of T then have two more Blues in the Top 10 as both Alyssa Kerner and Mia Sung scored rounds of 79. Closing out the Blues quartet, Tara O'Connor was right behind the duo with a score of 80.

The second and final round of the provincial showcase will begin at 10 a.m. tomorrow (Oct. 19) morning. Live results are available via Golf Genius.
