The University of Toronto Varsity Blues wrestling team were back on the mat, opening their 2025 competition schedule on the Brock Open on Saturday (Jan. 11).

Competing in St. Catharines, Ont., the Blues picked up four Top 6 finishes.

Ketan Nawbatt led the charge for the Blues men earning the top result of a fourth-place finish in the men's 68kg bracket. The San Jose, California native opened his day with a 12-2 victory over his opponent from Team Xtreme, before falling by pin-fall versus one of the strong competitors from the host Brock Badgers. Nawbatt bounced back earning a pin fall and 9-3 decision win over opponents from Western and Guelph, which propelled him into the bronze medal match. Facing another tough opponent from the Montreal Wrestling Club, Nawbatt would just miss out on a podium finish.
