The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's soccer team continues their postseason run as they match-up with the No. 2 nationally ranked Ottawa Gee-Gees in the OUA quarter-final round. U of T will travel to challenge the defending OUA champion on Wednesday, October 23, with kick-off scheduled for 6 p.m.
The Blues earned their place in the second round of the postseason after an exciting 1-0 road playoff win over the TMU Bold this past weekend. The win marked the third straight victory for U of T as they also ended their regular season schedule undefeated through the final four games to clinch the fifth playoff seed with a 6-3-3 (W-L-T) record. The Blues have showcased incredible defensive tenacity during this stretch, holding their opponents scoreless through the last four games, while conceding just 10 goals through 12 regular season games this fall.
A contender each and every year, Ottawa earned a first round playoff bye after finishing atop the OUA East division standings with an 11-1-0 record. An offensive juggernaut, the Gee-Gees led all teams in the OUA this season with 45 goals, led by a province-high 12 goals from 2023 OUA East MVP and U SPORTS first team All-Canadian Cassandra Provost. However, the lone loss for the Gee-Gees this season came at the hands of Toronto, who defeated the nationally ranked opponent 1-0 in mid-September.
