BLUES SPLIT WEEKEND AT BROCK BONSPIEL

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's curling team closed out their invitational schedule competing at the Brock Bonspiel this weekend.

The Blues split the weekend finishing with a 2-2 record over the two-day event.

Toronto opened their schedule with a 5-3 win over Guelph on Saturday afternoon. Tied 3-3 after the sixth end, the Blues were able to seal the deal with two more points through the seventh and eighth.

Competing versus the TMU Bold later that evening, U of T came up just shy in a 7-6 final result. In a back-and-forth match, the Blues were able to score three in the sixth and seventh ends to take a one point advantage. However, a two-point eighth secure the victory for the Bold to close out Saturday.

The Blues bounced back with a decisive 7-2 win over the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks on Sunday afternoon. Four points scored through the first two ends helped allow U of T to lead from start to finish versus the Ridgebacks.

This was followed by another close loss as Toronto closed out the weekend with a 4-3 defeat at the hands of the host Brock Badgers.

After finishing the invitational schedule with a 10-6 overall record, the men's curling team are next tentatively scheduled to compete over the weekend of Feb. 9-11 in the OUA Championship.
