Traveling to Oshawa for a pair of Sunday (Sept. 24) contests on the road, the University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's lacrosse team split the day with a 13-12 victory over Ontario Tech and 15-10 loss versus the Trent Excalibur.
In a back-and-forth opener versus the hosting Ridgebacks, Toronto was able to come out on top as they found an offensive rhythm which kept them ahead. Rheanna Swanson delivered an exceptional performance for the Blues, scoring six total goals, including the last three consecutive markers which sealed the first win of the season for Toronto. An effective distributor, Rylin Cormier added three goals and two assists, while Samantha Lee, Lily Brooks, Piper Sinyard, and Alexei Dokis-Dupuis rounded out the scoring for the Blues with individual markers each.
Facing another tough opponent in the Excalibur later in the day, U of T kept the offence rolling, reaching double-digit goals scored once again. Cormier added another hat-trick and an assist to her day, scoring the first three goals of the game for the Blues. Swanson also registered a hat-trick to finish her Sunday with nine total goals across the two games. Scoring was rounded out by three more from Brooks and a solo marker from Mary Frost.
Next up the Blues will be looking for another win when they travel to challenge the Brock Badgers in Hamilton on Saturday, Oct. 14.
