The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's lacrosse team fell 16-10 in their OUA Championship round-robin opener versus the Trent Excalibur on Friday (Oct. 27) afternoon.
Traveling to Kingston for the provincial showcase, U of T opened the event with a tough matchup versus the 2021 champion Excalibur. The Blues proved to be up for the battle early as they kept pace with Trent through the first quarter, trailing 3-2 at the break. However, a five-goal second quarter for Trent built up a gap that Toronto was unable to close through the remainder of the contest.
Second-year middie Rheanna Swanson delivered an exceptional performance for the Blues scoring a game-high six goals, while also adding an assist. Toronto also received a pair of markers from Lily Brooks, while both Mary Frost and Alexei Dokis-Dupuis each scored a single goal apiece. Frost added an assist to her stat line, while Rylin Cormier tallied two assists.
The Blues continue round-robin play at the OUA Championship in Kingston tomorrow (Oct. 28) morning. Toronto will challenge the Brock Badgers with a start time of 10 a.m. scheduled for the match.
