THE NO. 9 BLUES BLANK VOYAGEURS

Box Score The No. 9 University of Toronto women's soccer team to a 2-0 win over the Laurentian Voyageurs on Saturday (Oct. 15) afternoon at James Jerome Turf in Sudbury, Ont.

With the win, the Blues hold an 9-2 record with 27 points. They currently sit second in the OUA east division, a point behind the Ottawa Gee-Gee's with one regular season game left to play.

HOW IT HAPPENED: A cold, wet and rainy afternoon left much to be desired from the first half. A strong defensive performance from the Blues kept the Voyageurs to just one shot through the first 45-minutes of play.

As the field dried up through the second half, the Blues offence came pouring in. Toronto recorded eight shots through the second half, with fifth-year fullback Karly helstrom breaking the deadlock in the 52nd minute. Second-year striker Jayda Olak doubled the Blues lead in the 90th minute to record her second goals as a member of the Varsity Blues.

Fourth-year goalkeeper Maddy Nardin finished the game with three saves.

UP NEXT: The Varsity Blues return to action Sunday, October 16th when they faceoff against Laurentian University in Sudbury. Kick off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
