BLUES COMPLETE EIGHTH CONSECUTIVE PERFECT SEASON

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's water polo team won its eighth consecutive conference title on Saturday, December 4 at Varsity Pool. Getting goals from 11 different players, the Blues rolled to a 23-3 victory over the visiting Queen's Gaels in the 2021 NCWP championship.

Led by a five-goal performance from Tyanna Supreme, who after the game was named the 2021 NCWP Player of the Year, the Blues jumped out to an early lead and never looked back.

"The players and the team all piqued at the right time," said Varsity Blues head coach George Gross Jr. "Everyone played their best water polo of the fall over the past week and that is all we could ask for."

Making her presence felt almost instantly, Supreme scored the first three goals of the contest to put Toronto out in front 3-0. The molecular genetics major would later add one more goal before the quarter expired helping guide the Blues to a 6-0 advantage after one.

In the second, the Blues really began to apply the pressure. Firing 10 goals into the Queen's net, while only surrendering one, Toronto heading into the half with a 16-1 lead.

Continuing to build on their advantage in the third quarter, the Blues tallied another four goals to go up 20-1. However, despite trailing, the Gaels themselves continued to battle and would go on to net two of the next three goals.

From there on though the Varsity Blues tacked on two more tallies to seal their 2021 NCWP championship.

To go along with Supreme's five-goal performance, the Blues also got three goals from Hannah Levin. Six different Blues managed to score twice during the contest as Deena Charles, Tori Wilson, Chloe MacVicar, Emily Grossman, Julianna Hill and Vega Jones all had two-goal games. Rounding out the scoring for Toronto, Lauren Dundee, Kaitlyn Palmer and Serena Spencer each had singles.

In net for the Blues, Hana Truchla allowed just one goal while playing the first half, while Arushi Madan, who played the second half, only surrendered two.
