BLUES SCORE SECOND CONSECUTIVE CONVINCING WIN

The Varsity Blues women's water polo team racked up its second consecutive convincing win by taking down the visiting Guelph Gryphons 19-2 on Tuesday night.

The more experienced Blues employed a suffocating press defence in the first quarter, which led to several counterattack goals.  In all, Toronto rattled off nine goals to end the opening quarter leading 9-0.

The second period proved to be a successful one for the visitors, who struck for two goals against the Blues changed defensive alignment.   The home team responded with its own pair of goals to tie up the quarter and maintain its nine goal lead entering the second half of play.

The third quarter was almost a repeat of the first as the Blues blanked the Gryphons 6-0 to surge ahead 15-2.  Toronto made it 10 goals in a row with a pair of markers in the final frame to round out the 19-2 victory.

Tyanna Supreme (Montreal) and Lauren Dundee (Perth, Scotland) led the way with four goals apiece.  Emily Wilkinson (El Segundo, California), sophomores Chloe MacVicar (Irvine, California) and Julia Decaire (Ottawa) and rookie Hannah Levin (Calgary) each scored twice.  Single tallies were counted by co-captain Tori Wilson (Kitchener), Kaitlyn Palmer (Ottawa) and Alexandra Lee (Palo Alto, California).

Sophomore netminders Hanna Truchla (Toronto) and Arushi Madan (Cupertino, California) split duties in net.

Next up for the Blues is a home tilt versus Queen's this Saturday (October 30) .
