BLUES FALL TO DEFENDING CHAMPS

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's lacrosse team dropped a 10-5 decision to the Trent Excalibur in their 2021 home opener on Saturday, October 2 at Varsity Stadium.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: T
he Excalibur got out to a quick 3-0 lead before Lily Brooks got the Blues on the board with her first of two goals on the day.
 
Trent added two more goals to take a 5-1 advantage but Rylin Cormier closed the gap just before halftime as Toronto trailed 5-2 at the midway point of the game.
 
The Excalibur scored another three goals in the third quarter, matched by one from Toronto's Mary Frost to make it 8-3 heading into the final frame.
 
The Blues bounced back to bring the game within three (8-5) with two quick goals from Cormier and Brooks, but the Excalibur answered with two of their own to round out the win.
 
UP NEXT: The Blues are back home next Saturday, October 9 as they host the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks at Varsity Stadium. Game times are set for 10 a.m. and 1 pm.
