ZACK CLAIMS OUA SILVER, BOOKS TICKET TO NATIONALS

Second-year standout Rachel Zack's silver-medal finish highlighted the University of Toronto Varsity Blues wrestling team results at the 2020 OUA championships on Saturday, February 1 at the University of Guelph.

Zack went a perfect 3-0 through pool play in the women's 72kg class, beating C. Vandesande of Queen's, K. Patel of Lakehead and M. Mendza of Guelph, to earn a spot in the gold-medal bout and punch her ticket to the U SPORTS national championships.

In her first OUA championships, Kriti Saxena placed fifth in the women's 59kg event.

Second-year standout Caleb Goodfellow led Toronto's men with a fourth-place finish in the 90kg class. After dropping his first bout, Goodfellow notched 10-0 victories over wrestlers from Lakehead and York to earn a spot in the bronze-medal match.

Both Nick Adams and Yousef Elsayed placed fifth in the 57kg and 76kg events, respectively, while Teo Xeka was sixth in the 65kg class. Christian Phillips also placed seventh in the 82kg event.
