The University of Toronto Varsity Blues field hockey team hosts the two-time OUA reigning champion York Lions in our Under Armour Game of the Week this Sunday, September 29 at Back Campus Fields.
Â
Game time is set for 12:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. The team will also be celebrating their graduating players in a special pre-game ceremony.Â
Â
Toronto is the only remaining undefeated team in the OUA, following a 2-0-1 weekend, which saw the Blues tie the Guelph Gryphons, 2-2, and defeat the Lions, 3-1.
Â
U of T currently has five players ranked in the top 10 of league scoring. Fourth-year veteran Emily Ziraldo leads all players with 12 goals in seven games, while third-year forward Anna Costanzo has scored six goals so far this season. Sophomore forward Lucia Plunkett has five goals, all of which came in a 12-0 lopsided victory over McGill last weekend, while both Katie Lynes and Rachel Spouge have tallied four times in 2019.
Â
Toronto also boasts one of the best defensive corps in the country as they have only conceded four goals in seven games. This is thanks in large part to fourth-year goalie Elizabeth O'Hara, who has appeared in all seven games, earning four shut outs in the process.
