Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues field hockey team earned a 4-0 shutout win over the Western Mustangs on Sunday (Sept. 20) afternoon in London.

With the win, U of T improves to 3-0-1 (W-L-T) on the season to sit atop the OUA standings.

A close contest through the first 50 minutes, Toronto exploded for three goals in the final frame to claim the dominant road win. The Blues success came mostly from penalty corners with three of their four goals coming from the set plays. Fourth-year forward Ava Airnes opened the scoring for Toronto from a penalty corner at the 30th minute. Fourth-year midfielder Alicia Lung then added another goal from a penalty corner in the 51st. Olivia Thompson added her first career OUA goal as a Varsity Blue just two minutes later, while Lung rounded out the scoring with her second goal at the 60th minute.

Second-year goalkeeper Mary Yang earned the clean sheet victory for Toronto. The Team Canada goalie has yet to be scored on this season helping the Blues to be the only OUA club to not concede a goal yet through four regular season contests so far this season.

The Blues will continue their current four-game road swing next heading to Kingston to face the Queen's Gaels on Friday, Sept. 25. Action begins at Tindall Field at 6 p.m.
