MEILLEUR SCORES TWICE IN OUA SEASON OPENING WIN

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues field hockey team opened the 2026 OUA regular season with a 2-0 victory over the McMaster Marauders in Hamilton on Friday (Sept. 11) afternoon.

Spearheading the Blues offensive attack, second-year forward Catalina Meilleur notched both goals in the win. The Health Sciences major from Calgary opened the scoring with her first marker coming just five minutes into the road contest. Meilleur was then able to add an insurance market in the 42nd minute of action. The two goals lift Meilleur's career tally as a Varsity Blue to six across nine regular season games played.

On the other end of the pitch, was able to shutdown the Marauders attack. Veterans Maggie Mullins and Kirsten D'Silva helped guide the Blues defensive effort while second-year goalkeeper Mary Yang claimed the clean sheet win. Yang has now registered a clean sheet in eight of her 11 career appearances in net for the Blues.

Toronto will look to carry the momentum of a season opening win into tomorrow (Sept. 12) when they welcome the York Lions to Back Campus Fields for a rematch of last season's OUA Championship final. The Blues home opener is set to begin at 2 p.m. from the St. George campus.
