BLUES TROUNCE LAKERS 4-0

Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's soccer team trounced the Nipissing Lakers 4-0 on Sunday, October 6 at Nipissing University Soccer Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Fifth-year transfer Jenny Wolever scored the lone goal of a hard-fought first half (26'). Third-year striker Erin Kelly and fifth-year defender Daniella Cipriano would each claim yellow cards, as would Lakers midfielder, Ashley Mlinaric.

The Blues would extend their lead early in the second following Jenny Wolever's assist to Erin Kelly (63') and Maddie MacKay added to it shortly after with a goal of her own (77'). Lakers defender Sarah Matesic would be sent off with a red card in the preceding play.

In the 81st minute, Blues third-year midifelder Miranda Badovinac would seal the deal combining with Jenny Wolever for the goal.

A strong performance from the Blues defence saw fourth-year goalkeeper, Levana Staggolis face just two shots on goal.

UP NEXT: The Blues are back in action Saturday (Oct. 12) at 1 p.m., when they host the RMC Paladins at Varsity Stadium.
