BLUES FALL TO STANGS, DOWN MARAUDERS

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's lacrosse team advanced to Sunday's consolation final at the 2019 OUA championship in Oshawa, Ont.

After defeating the Brock Badgers 14-6 in their first game of the tournament, the Blues dropped a narrow 11-7 quarter-final decision to the Western Mustangs on Friday night.

Brynne Yarranton and Rhiannon Panting led the Blues with two goals each, while Laurel McGillis had one goal and two assists on the night. Mary Frost and Heather McDougall rounded out the scoring with one goal each.

The Blues then topped the McMaster Marauders, 10-6, in consolation semifinal action to set up a Sunday tilt with the Laurier Golden Hawks for fifth place.

McDougall and McGillis led the Blues with three goals each, while Lily Sedore scored twice in the win. Frost and Yarranton each had single tallies on the day.
