TORONTO FALLS TO LAURIER IN SEASON OPENER

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's rugby team opened their 2018 regular season with a 58-28 loss to the Laurier Golden Hawks on Friday, August 31 at Varsity Stadium.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: The game boasted back and forth intensity. The score was 20-7 in favour of Laurier at the half. The Blues had offensive output from both veterans and rookies. Captain Lauren Van Dyke scored a try and had two conversions. Rookies Savannah Skeete and Kashish Arya both scored their first tries in the Blue and White, while sophomore Stephanie Hovdestad tallied her first try of the season.
Emily Vincent also had a conversion. Michaela Strong, Abby Stacey and Haley Desjardins led Laurier with two tries each.
 


 
UP NEXT: The Varsity Blues head to the University of Waterloo to take on the Warriors, next Sunday, September 9. The match is slated to begin at 12 p.m.
