Fourth-year striker Natasha Klasios scored the lone goal as the University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's soccer team defeated the Western Mustangs, 1-0, on Day 1 of the Old Four Tournament (August 18) in Kingston, Ont.
Â
It marked Klasios' fourth goal in the past three days, after she scored all three of U of T's markers in a narrow 4-3 exhibition loss to the Guelph Gryphons on Thursday night.
Â
Third-year goalkeepers Vanna Staggolis and Stephania Turyk split duties in the net to earn the clean sheet victory.
Â
The Blues will now take on the host Queen's Gaels, who defeated the McGill Martlets 2-0Â in the other semifinal of the day.
Â
The Varsity Blues kick off their regular season at home next Saturday, August 25 as they host the Trent Excalibur at Varsity Centre. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
