The Varsity Blues women's water polo team played its final regular season game and soundly defeated the McMaster Marauders 11-1 on Tuesday night (Nov. 20) at Varsity Pool.

The Blues vaunted counterattack led immediately to three glorious chances but the team squandered them all.  Undeterred, the counterattack produced five goals in the first quarter and the rarity of a goal from the cage scored pool length by starting goalie junior assistant captain Rachael Jaffe (Irvine, California).

The Blues stretched the 6-0 opening quarter advantage to 8-0 at the half.

The teams traded goals in the third quarter.  Toronto then added a pair in the final frame to come away with an 11-1 victory.

Freshmen Allie Vas (Yorba Linda, California) and Sara Sutherland (Regina) paced the attack with two goals each.  Seven different players including Jaffe added singles: senior co-captain Daniela Freeman (Menifee, California), junior Rhianna Wood (Calgary), sophomore Caitlyn Tiedje (Calgary) and freshmen Deena Charles (Fraser Valley, B.C.), Katie Smith (Chestermere, Alberta) and Emily Grossman (Santa Clara, California).

The Blues will host the NCWP championships, November 30-December 2 at Varsity Pool. U of T enters the championship as the No. 1 seed and will have a bye into the semifinals.
