BLUES END REGULAR SEASON WITH TWO BIG WINS

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's lacrosse team edged the Western Mustangs 9-8 and defeated the McMaster Marauders 14-7 on Sunday, October 14 in Oshawa, Ont.

With the wins, the Blues end the regular season with an 8-4-1 record, in fifth place in the OUA standings.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Blues found themselves down 5-3 to Western in the first game of the day. Veterans Brynne Yarranton and Heather McDougall led the charge with two goals apiece in the second half as Toronto completed the come back. Yarranton led all players with four goals, while McDougall had two goals and three assists. Laurel McGillis scored twice, while Mary-Anne Meerasabeer had a single in the victory.

Yarranton led the Blues again versus the Marauders. The Faculty of Medicine student scored six goals, while McDougall had one goal and five assists in the win. McGillis added four goals, while Meerasabeer had two and Sarah Morgan one.

UP NEXT: The Blues head to Peterborough, Ont., for the 2018 OUA Championship, October 19-21. A full championship preview will be posted this week.
