BLUES GO 1-1 AT UOIT

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's lacrosse team dropped a narrow 12-10 decision to the Queen's Gaels before bouncing back with a big 13-3 victory over the UOIT Ridgebacks on Sunday, September 24 in Oshawa, Ont.

The Blues are now 3-1-2 at the midway point of their regular season.

The Gaels got out to a 4-0 lead before the Blues got on the board with goals from Melissa Holland and Heather McDougall. Queen's added two more and the Blues responded with two goals from Laurel McGillis and one from Tori McGillis to bring the game within one (6-5) at halftime.

Queen's opened the second half with three unanswered goals to build a cushion for good. Mary Anne Meerasabeer scored for the Blues and both Geneva Calder and Sarah Jamieson scored two more, but the Gaels came away with the win.

Tori McGillis led the Blues with four goals in the second game of the day, with both Jada Singh and Meerasabeer scoring twice. Calder, Jamieson, Sarah Morgan, Ava Guse and Corinne Bertoia each added single tallies in the win.

The Varsity Blues return to action next Saturday, September 30 as they travel to Guelph, Ont., to take on the Gryphons and Western Mustangs.
