With two gold medals and two silvers over the two day tournament, the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's fencing team won the OUA championship hosted by Brock University for the second consecutive season this weekend (Feb. 18-19).

The win marks the 32nd in program history for the Varsity Blues as they ended the championship with 254 points, just ahead of the silver medalist Carleton Ravens (230) and third place RMC Paladins (173).

Leading the charge for U of T was second-year epee standout Colin Dale, who after earning the Desjarlais Trophy for winning the individual epee event, helped guide the Blues to another epee gold alongside teammates Beston Leung, Daniel Zhang, and Neil Kohlmann in the team relay on Day 2. Together the group picked up convincing victories over York (45-22) and Brock (45-27) before defeating the top seeded RMC Paladins 45-37 in the gold medal match.

Toronto's second medal came in the team sabre relay where the team of William Kinney, who captured silver in the individual event on Day 1, Filbert Yung, Tommy Liu, and Nicholas Slotine dropped Western (45-35) and RMC (45-38) in the opening rounds of the event to earn their place in the finals alongside York. The city of Toronto showdown quickly became the most exciting match of the tournament as both teams gave it everything they had, but U of T fell one point short 45-44 to pick up the second step on the podium.

At the conclusion of the event Dale was also awarded the George Tully Trophy for Sportsmanship while being named an OUA all-star alongside teammate William Kinney.
