BLUES WIN 10TH STRAIGHT OUA BANNER

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues successfully defended their team title as the 2026 OUA men's fencing championship wrapped up on Sunday (March 8) in Waterloo, Ont.

The Blues were dominant in winning their 10th consecutive and 40th overall banner in program history.

After finishing 1-2-3-4 in the individual epee competition on Day 1, the Blues went onto dominate the team relay. Nicholas Gutierrez-Sarabia, Seraphim Jarov, Ethan Liu and Evan Wang won the gold medal, defeating the Western Mustangs 45-22 in the championship bout.

Matthew Teng, Leo Chen, Siyuan Shao and Richard Chen earned the sabre team relay silver medal. The quartet defeated the Brock Badgers, 45-21, in the quarter-final round, before topping the TMU Bold 45-27 in the semifinal. The Blues then dropped a narrow 45-40 decision to the host Waterloo Warriors in the gold-medal bout.

Toronto's foil team of Jimmy Zhou, Alastair Rajpal, Hymn Chan and Aimon Heese placed fifth overall.
