University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's fencing standout Seraphim Jarov has been named OUA athlete of the week for the period ending March 8, 2026.

Jarov struck gold twice at the 2026 OUA Men's Fencing Championship in Waterloo this past weekend. The epee specialist returned to the top step of the podium on Day 1 of the provincial showcase. After a perfect 6-0 round-robin record earned him a bye through the Round of 32, he would go on to claim four more victories to remain undefeated and win the Desjarlais Trophy and OUA all-star honours as individual epee champion. He then joined his epee teammates on Day 2 for the relay finishing 3-0 in round-robin matches and 3-0 in elimination matches, including Jarov earning the gold medal clinching point in a decisive 45-22 event final win over second-seed Western. Jarov continues a string of success in the epee event for U of T, with Varsity Blues fencers winning the individual and team relay titles in six of the last seven championships.

The Blues claimed their 10th consecutive OUA banner, claiming the top step in three of the six total events, including a complete sweep of the epee individual podium.
