FOOTBALL FALLS TO NO. 6 MARAUDERS

Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues football team dropped a 43-6 decision to the No. 6 nationally ranked McMaster Marauders on Thursday night (Oct. 5) at Varsity Stadium.
 
With the loss, the Blues drop to 1-5, while the Marauders improve to 5-1 with two weeks remaining in the OUA football regular season.
 
TORONTO STATS
 
Second-year pivot Clay Sequeira went 13-for-31 for 190 yards and one touchdown, while also rushing seven times for 55 yards in his first start as a Varsity Blue. Third-year QB Connor Ennis also saw some action in the second half, going 5-for-10 for 50 yards on the night.
 
Rookie receiver Will Corby made seven catches for 75 yards and one major, while Jaykwon Thompson had four receptions for 67 yards and sophomore Nick Stadnyk had two receptions for 53 yards.
 
Fifth-year defensive back Nick Hallett recorded a career and game-high 11 tackles, while sophomore safety Austin Rosbrook had nine in the loss.
 
MCMASTER STATS

 
Rookie quarterback Jackson White went 25-for-32 for 344 yards and two majors in the win. His favourite target was Justice Allin, who had six receptions for 137 yards and one TD, while also rushing 14 times for 70 yards and one touchdown.
 
Backup quarterback Dylan Astrom came in for the short yard gains, rushing three times for two touchdowns. Nolan Putt led the Marauders defensively with 5.5 tackles
 
GAME FLOW
 
The Marauders opened the scoring as Astrom came in to cap off a six-play, 39-yard drive with a one-yard rushing major midway through the first quarter. McMaster extended their lead as White connected a 45-yard strike with Dan Petermann and the visitors were up 14-0 at the end of the first quarter.
 
Astrom scored his second one-yard rushing TD as McMaster build a 21-0 lead midway through the second quarter. Toronto got on the board late in the frame as Sequeira connected a 17-yard pass with Corby for his second touchdown of the season.
 
Allin put the Marauders up 28-6 at halftime with a 64-yard catch and run major with 1:32 remaining in the first half.
 
Toronto held McMaster to a safety and a field goal in the third quarter as the home team trailed 33-6 heading into the fourth.
 
Allin notched his second TD of the game off a one-yard rush, ending a 14-play, 74-yard drive, with 5:18 remaining, and Adam Preocanin kicked his second field goal of the game to round out the scoring.
 
NEXT GAME:
 
The Varsity Blues are back in action next Saturday, October 14 as they head to Ottawa to take on the Carleton Ravens. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
