The University of Toronto Varsity Blues football team fell 54-0 on the road versus the Windsor Lancers on Saturday, September 26.
Toronto struggled to find their footing after making the long trek down the 401 to the border town. Despite the disappointing result, several Blues showed grit and effort, competing to the final whistle.
Veteran linebackers Nolan Ricardo and Ryan Stewart led the defence with a combined 12.5 tackles. A third-year history major from Oakville, Ricardo finished the afternoon contest with four solo tackles, including a sack, and five assisted tackles. Meanwhile, fourth-year forest conservation student Stewart tallied four solo, including a tackle for loss, and four assisted.
Offensively, third-year quarterback Kaleb O'Donoghue went 12-for-21 with 58 passing yards and 26 rushing yards. Second-year running back Zay Marcelline proved to be the most effective receiver coming out of the backfield with four catches for 32 receiving yards.
