The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's lacrosse team dropped a 10-4 decision to the Western Mustangs in OUA semi-final action on Saturday evening (Oct. 21) in Kitchener, Ont.
Â
With the loss, the Blues will take on the host Laurier Golden Hawks, who narrowly fell 9-7 to Queen's in the other semifinal of the day, in the OUA bronze medal match tomorrow at 12 p.m.
Â
"The game felt a lot closer than the score indicates," said Varsity Blues head coach Jeska Eedens. "We were out-hustling them but they found a way to get a couple of quick ones in on us. I am very proud of how we played tonight. We showed a lot of heart, fighting until the final buzzer. It can be tough to play like that when you're six goals down, but we never let them settle into a stall and were relentless to the very end. We're looking to carry that momentum into tomorrow."
Â
Sarah Jamieson scored three goals, with Mary Anne Meerasabeer adding a single tally, all in the first half. Western led 5-4 at halftime and scored five more in the second half to secure the win.Â
