STRONG SECOND HALF SENDS BLUES TO SEMIFINALS

Fifth-year veteran Sarah Jamieson scored four goals in leading the University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's lacrosse team to a 12-6 victory over the Brock Badgers in OUA quarter-final action on Friday night (Oct. 20) in Kitchener, Ont.

With the win, the Blues advance to their first OUA semifinal since 2014 and will face the winner of Western/McMaster tomorrow (Oct. 21) at 4:00 p.m.

Down 5-4 at halftime, Toronto exploded for 7 second-half goals, holding Brock to just two, to secure the victory.

After Tori McGillis tied the game at 5-5, Jamieson potted her second goal of the game and veteran midfielder Geneva Calder added her second to put Toronto up by two (7-5). The Badgers scored to cut the deficit to one, but Jamieson added two and Calder scored her third to give Toronto a four goal cushion with four minutes remaining.

Fifth-year midfielder Melissa Holland scored two first-half goals, while sophomore midfielder Sarah Morgan and veteran attack Mary Anne Meerasabeer rounded out the scoring with one goal each in the final minutes.

Third-year goalie Daniela Solomon earned the victory in net.
