U OF T SUFFERS TOUGH ROAD LOSS TO NIPISSING

Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's soccer team dropped a tough 5-1 road contest with the Nipissing Lakers on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 14) in North Bay, Ont.

With the loss, the Blue and White fall to 6-6-1 (W-L-D) on the season ranking sixth in the OUA East. The Lakers improve to 4-8-1, sitting right behind the Blues in seventh.

Nipissing broke out to a fast start as Madison Logan recorded the first goal of the game for the Lakers in the second minute. Logan would go on to record a hat-trick, with her second marker of the contest proving to be the game-winner.

U of T kept it close in the first half when first-year midfielder Kristin Parkes recorded her first career goal in the 38th minute, making it a 2-1 Nipissing lead heading into the halftime break.

However, three second half goals from the Lakers shut down any potential Toronto comeback.

The Varsity Blues will need to rebound quickly as they travel to Sudbury, Ont., to challenge the Laurentian Voyageurs tomorrow afternoon (Oct. 15). Kick off is set for 12 p.m.
