The University of Toronto Varsity Blues fell 11-7 to the Queen's Gaels before topping the UOIT Ridgebacks 10-5 in OUA women's lacrosse action on Sunday, September 25.

The Blues are now 6-1 and remain atop the OUA standings at the midway point of the season.

In the first game of the day, the Blues and Gaels were tied 4-4 at the half. Queen's exploded for three unanswered goals to take the lead for good. Geneva Calder led the team with three goals, while Melissa Holland had two. Sarah Jamieson and Sarah Morgan each scored once in Toronto's first loss of the season.

Toronto bounced back in the second game with a big win over UOIT. Up 3-2 at halftime, Holland led the charge for the Blues with three goals in the second half to lift the Blues to the five-goal victory. Both Holland and Jamieson led the Blues with three goals, while Corinne Bertoia had two and Damra Camat and Morgan scored one in the win.

The Varsity Blues return to action next Saturday, October 1 as they host the York Lions and Trent Excalibur at Varsity Stadium. Game times are 8:30 a.m. and 1:45 p.m., respectively.
