The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's lacrosse team opened their season in Kingston, Ontario Saturday (Sept. 10) afternoon scoring impressive victories over Laurier, 13-10, and McMaster, 16-6.
In Toronto's opening contest against the Golden Hawks a combination of nine different scorers lifted the Blues to an incredible come-from-behind victory.
Entering the final 10 minutes of the contest trailing Laurier 10-9, four straight goals from second-year attack Alex Walton, 2015 second team all-star Sarah Jamieson, 2015 first team all-star Melissa Holland, and first-year midfielder Sarah Morgan secured the inspiring season opening win for Toronto.
U of T then scored a convincing victory against McMaster in the second game of their Saturday doubleheader.
Jamieson took the lead for the Blues offence showing off her all-star attack with seven goals in the double-digit victory.
The Varsity Blues will look to keep things rolling next weekend as they head to Oshawa, Ont. to take on the Queen's Gaels and host UOIT Ridgebacks on Sunday, September 18. Action begins at 10:15 a.m.
