Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's soccer team fell 2-1 to the Nipissing Lakers in their 2016 season opener on Friday, August 26 in North Bay, Ont.
 
Nipissing's Brittany Burns opened the scoring in the 42nd minute to give the home team a 1-0 lead at the half.
 
Burns added her second of the game in the 54th minute, but the Blues bounced back and got on the board with a goal from Brenda Murillo.
 
Blues goalkeeper Tori Edgar posted five saves in the loss.
 
The Varsity Blues return to action this Sunday, August 28 when they host the Laurentian Voyageurs in their 2016 home opener at Varsity Stadium. Game time is set for 12 p.m.
