BLUES DOWN RAVENS, CAPITAL WAVE

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's water polo team opened the Carleton Invitational with two big wins on Saturday, October 15 in Ottawa.
 
Game 1: Toronto 10, Carleton 2
 
The first quarter was a close affair with the Blues holding a slim 2-1 lead.  The advantage was extended to 5-1 in the second quarter thanks to three unanswered goals.
 
The Blues put together another shut out quarter in the third pushing the lead to 7-1.  
 
Junior Ali Kraft (Rancho Santa Margarita, California), sophomore Megan MacCormac (Ottawa) and freshman Cam Greer (Rancho Santa Margarita, California) paced the Blues with two goals apiece.  
 
Toronto natives Ana Miroslavic, Ema Gradascevic and Joy Carter, as well as freshman Rhianna Wood  (Calgary, Alberta) added singles.
 
Game 2: Toronto 11, Capital Wave 2
 
The Blues started well jumping out to a 4-0 first-quarter lead.  The team extended the lead to 7-1 before adding four more goals to seal the victory.
 
 Rhianna Wood (Calgary) had a big game for the Blues, drilling four goals.  
 
The rest of the scoring was distributed evenly one goal each to senior co-captains Ana Miroslavic (Toronto) and Marianne Tout (Vancouver), Ali Kraft (Rancho Santa Margarita, California), sophomores Megan MacCormac (Ottawa) and Emily Kelvin-Davies (Fraser Valley, B.C.) and freshmen Cambria Greer  (Rancho Santa Margarita, California), Katrina Jensen  (Vancouver,  B.C.) and Kassie Fraser (Vancouver, B.C.).
 
The Blues will face off against the University of Ottawa Gee Gees early on Sunday morning.  After only an hour's rest, the Blues will then complete the tournament with a game against the Carleton Ravens alumnae.
