BLUES SCORE BIG VERSUS EXCALIBUR

Box Score Scoring four goals in the second half, the University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's soccer team picked up a big 6-1 victory Saturday (Oct. 1) afternoon against the Trent Excalibur.

Toronto opened the scoring in the 16th minute with Blues leading goal scorer Natasha Klasios finishing off a pass from Meghan Glibbery for her first in a hattrick of goals on the day. With the two second half goals added to her opening marker Klasios now sits alone in third place in the OUA with nine total goals.

U of T followed their first with another ten minutes later in the 26th minute courtesy fourth-year midefielder Nicki Parkes.

Second-half goals from striker Chelsea Cheung and midfielder Alyssa Golin sealed the deal for Toronto as they picked up their fourth win of the season.

Hayley Giles picked up the lone Excalibur goal in the 76th minute.

Fifth-year Tori Edgar started in net for the Blues picking up four saves while first-year Stephanie Turyk came in for the final 30 minutes to pickup some in-game experience.

Brandi Riggs made eight saves on 14 shots for Trent.

The Varsity Blues will remain on the road following the decisive victory in Peterborough heading to Oshawa tomorrow (Oct. 2) to take on the No. 9 UOIT Ridgebacks. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
