The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's lacrosse team defeated the York Lions 14-3 before falling 13-7 to the Trent Excalibur on Saturday (Oct. 1) at Varsity Stadium.
U of T delivered on an incredible gameplan in the opening contest of the weekend versus the Lions controlling posession for a majority of the match while consistently finding open looks at the York net.
Â
Sarah Jamieson led the Blues with four goals in Toronto's 14-3 win over York, while Alex Walton and Sarah Morgan each had three goals. Laurel McGillis added two, with Lynn Li and Corinne Bertoia notching single tallies in the victory.
Â
Toronto then followed that up with a back-and-forth first half versus the Trent Excalibur.
The Blues opened with confidence jumping ahead 4-1 in the first 10 minutes, but Trent stormed back to take a 7-5 halftime lead  and continued their momentum into the second half picking up the important victory.
Jamieson led the team once again with four goals lifting her total to eight so far in this weekend homestand. Geneva Calder added two more for the Blues while Alex Walton scored a single marker.
Â
Following this afternoon's game, the Varsity Blues return to action this Monday night (Oct. 3) as they travel to Guelph, Ont., for a tilt with the Gryphons. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m.
