BLUES COME BACK TO BEAT LAKERS

Box Score Fourth-year forward Devin Johnson scored a game-high 23 points in leading the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team to a 73-69 victory over the Nipissing Lakers on Friday, January 29 in North Bay, Ont.

With the win, the Blues improve to 4-6 and remain in third place in the OUA East division.

Johnson went 9-for-20 from the floor, while adding seven rebounds, four assists and two steals on the night.

Rookie guard Wilson Torres continued his stellar play, notching nine points and six rebounds, while third-year guard Chase Ruttenberg also had nine points and three boards.

First-year forward Daniel Johansson chipped in with eight points and six rebounds, while second-year standout Sage Usher had eight points, four rebounds, three steals and two assists in the victory.

Tied 17-17 after the first quarter, the Lakers went ahead and were up by eight (39-31) at halftime. Toronto cut the deficit to five after the third quarter (57-52) and went onto out score the Lakers 21-12 in the fourth to seal the victory.

Marcus Lewis led the Lakers with 21 points and eight rebounds, while Jerron Rhodes had 15 points in the loss.

The Blues are back in action tomorrow night as they travel to Sudbury, Ont., to take on the Laurentian Voyageurs. Tip off is set for 8 p.m.
