The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team opened their preseason schedule with a decisive 85-58 victory over the 2026 OCAA champion Humber Hawks on Tuesday (Sept. 22) night.

Toronto's offence was on fire to open the contest outscoring the Hawks by 21-points through the first two quarters to lead 52-31 at the halftime break. In the second half, the Blues stifling defence was also showcased limiting Humber to just 13 per cent from the field in the fourth quarter and completely closing the door through the final six minutes where the Hawks were unable to register a field goal.

10 different U of T players registered a point in the win led by first-year guard Andrew Dangelas. A science student from Montreal, Dangelas went 7-for-10 from behind the three point line while also serving as a facilitator with seven assists. Second-year guard Mikey Ballout, fourth-year forward Simeon Jeffers added 14 and 13 points, respectively. Fifth-year centre Nigel Hylton secured a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Second-year guard Duncan McRae added some punch off the bench with nine points, six rebounds and two steals in 14 minutes of action.

Victoire Ndongo topped the stat sheet for the Hawks with 14 points, adding four rebounds, one assist, two steals, and three blocks.
