The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's lacrosse team defeated the UOIT Ridgebacks 13-5 and the York Lions 16-3 to open their 2015 regular season on Sunday, September 20 in Oshawa, Ont.

Playing in her first game as a Varsity Blue, Daniela Solomon was solid in net, stopping 16-of-21 shots. Second-year attacker Zoe Chad led the Blues with three goals and two assists, while Christine Neatby had three goals. Mary Anne Meerasabeer notched two goals and two assists, with team captain Melissa Holland adding two goals. Lynn Li rounded out the scoring with a single tally in the win.

Against the Lions, Tasha Watkins led all players with four goals, while Chad and Holland each scored three. Meerasabeer and Meagan Keane added two goals apiece, with Lynn notching one in the second win of the day.

The Varsity Blues are back in action next Saturday, September 26 as they travel to Peterborough, Ont., to take on the Queen's Gaels and Guelph Gryphons.
